Accent Much??

Hello friends and new followers and happy Tuesday to you all! Yesterday, I was talking to my hubby about how excited I am to move to Fargo and to get away from Minnesota for awhile. Scott was excited to see if leaving my home state will make me lose my Minnesota accent...

Accent? Me?? I don't have one of those! ...Do I?

I have lived in Minnesota my whole life and they say that whatever you are exposed to the most is what becomes the norm. Well, I must have been exposed to lots of elongated o's and very harsh a's, because I apparently have acquired a bit of what they call a Minnesotan accent. Mine definitely isn't as bad as some are out there, and until I met Scott and his family, I had never been told that I had an accent at all! Granted, they let me off with saying it's not there all the time, but they have noticed that when I get nervous or become very excited, it comes out A LOT. Now it's become a running joke in his family; me, the little Minnesotan girl with the big Minnesotan accent. I don't hear it...

They all think I talk funny...

Anyway! That being said, I recently received a Facebook message from a peer of mine, asking if I had been a part of a wedding video recently. "No??" I thought, "We didn't record our wedding..." And then it hit me: about a year and a half ago, Scott, my mom, and I attended a wedding show. It was a lot of fun and just as we finished sampling some (more) cake, a camera crew stopped us and asked us to talk about our time at the show. I never thought that interview would be used or pop up again, much less for professional use, but apparently it did and now my hubby, mom, and I are all featured on the company's advertisement- haha! You can check out our video for yourself (and maybe you'll hear a little Minnesota accent)- it's always kind of fun to finally found out what your bloggy friends sound like, isn't it? *Disclaimer: Does anybody really like seeing/hearing themselves on camera? Not me!*

We're the second ones interviewed- I come in at around 0:40

Also, it was recently called to my attention that a photo of me is prominently displayed as a showcase photo on my wedding photographer's website. Once again, more publicity that I thought would never actually be released. Either way, it's very flattering and always kind of shocking to discover.

This little gem made the website...

Soooo... that's my claim to fame today! What about you?? Do you have an accent that everybody seems to hear but you?? Have you been recognized as "that girl" from some advertisement?? Anyway, I'll be going full-force today at school and play practice, but I'll be sure to try and visit with you all in the very near future here, I hope! Also, one more follower to go before my giveaway! Stay tuned!

Thanks for reading/watching today,

  2. So cool! That wedding show looked like so much freaking fun! Also, holy sh*t are you like four feet tall or is your husbands family really tall?! You look teeny tiny! So adorable. Some people tell me I have an accent though I'm not sure from where. I guess a little southern but I think I just sound nasally and whiny. I was in a little Rosetta Stone video that I'm pretty sure no one has ever seen. I come in around 50 seconds in and then again around 1:10 seconds. (I'm the one in the black dress who looks like a complete bitch.) :p

  3. I have been told I have an accent very often. So often in fact I wrote a post on it a few weeks ago! haha =) I guess that I sound funny to every one here in the South with my West Coast accent, and they all sound funny to me! Cute wedding picture though!

  4. P, you have an accent, but it's not as bad as mine. People say I sound like I'm from the North Woods when I get rolling lol.

  8. Me and accent? OF COURSE!! I'm COLOMBIAN and I haven't even said three words into a conversation when people are already asking me where I'm from. One of my roommates in college was from Minnesota and I remember always loving to hear her talk. No wonder you are on display on your photographer's website: gorgeous picture!

  11. Ohhh my gosh! Seriously, you are so cute!

I've always wanted to have an accent :) I love them! People do say I have a "canadian accent" (and i'm like ew really?) because I say things like "beg" instead of "bag." I am better now, but still...a canadian? Please, I'd rather have a southern!

    You should do a vlogggggg!!

  14. When I first moved from PA to Massachusetts for college, EVERYONE made fun of me for the way I said my "a"s and "u"s...particularly for the way I say family and bull/pull/full...I don't know if it wore off eventually, but people did start letting me off the hook about it!
