Bloggy Bestie Guest Post- READ!!

I am SO excited about today's guest post. It is featuring a bloggy bestie, my sweetheart friend, Courtney over at Eric and Courtney. As far back as I can remember with my blogging, Courtney has been following me and I noticed right away a pattern: she visited often and she always had the best things to say. She's one of those people who always knows just what to say to make you laugh, or feel comforted, or inspired. If you haven't had the pleasure of following her and getting to know this sweet girl, DO NOT pass up this opportunity. I like to think I have great taste, and she's got my vote every time. Enjoy!

Can I just tell you all how happy and excited I am to be taking over P's blog today? I just love this girl! She is something special, don't you agree? I hope to be very dear, real life friends someday :)
Anyway, P asked me to share my thoughts on: If you could have been told one thing that you weren't told when you were a teenager, what would you like to have heard? I've thought long and hard about this question and I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I was told everything I needed to hear as a teenager. (Except for the fact that you can totally have acne in your 20's. And that is just the saddest thing in the world, haha.) But did I believe everything I'd been told? Nope! So I want to share some advice I was given, but didn't believe until after high school.

+ My dad always told me to find a career I love.
As a teenager I thought NO WAY does anyone get lucky enough to love their work.
Now it is safe to say that I LOVE my job as a hairstylist. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like work :)
+ My mom always told me that chivalry is NOT dead, and I should date boys who opened doors for me and respected me.
As a teenager I was SO embarrassed when a boy came to pick me up and they would honk for me to come out. My mom would make me wait inside until they came and knocked on the door. I thought boys only opened doors for you on prom dates :)
Now my husband ALWAYS opens the door for me. And I expect nothing less. Let me tell you something, he has proved to me that chivalry is indeed, NOT dead ;)
+ Freedom does not come free.
I was a teenager when 9/11 happened. I thought it was an accident, and there would not be a war. (I like to think of myself as naive, and always looking for the best in everyone.)
Now, I have the utmost respect for the brave men and women that fight for our freedom. We need our soldiers.
+ My parents taught me the importance of building your savings account.
As a teenager I spent my money when I wanted, and how I wanted. And I didn't have much to show for it.
Now my hubs and I are trying SO hard to build our savings account. After experiencing job lay offs, and bills I've learned that a savings account will totally help keep me calm and sane :)

I was told/given such great advice growing up, I only wish I would've listened/believed it better. But I definitely plan on teaching my kids everything they need to hear (and wish they didn't hear..especially coming from their parents, haha.) as they grow up!

If you'd like to get to know me more, come visit my blog where I write about me and the hubs :) I love to make new friends!

A big THANK YOU to you, Courtney, for this awesome post! I can absolutely relate to it all and who doesn't love the bit about chivalry... this goes for single and married ladies!! Stop back in next week so I can fill you in on my Fargo endeavors- In the mean time, I'm off to unpack!

Have a great weekend,
