DANGER: Serious Curves Ahead

Good morning and welcome, one and all! Thursdays are tough days for me at work, so to distract myself on the way there, I tend to think a lot. This morning I got to thinking about beauty. And not just the hair and makeup kind. Today I thought about body types and got a very strong urge to share my feelings on the topic with all of you.

DANGER: Curves Ahead

I know it sounds like a done-to-death mantra, but I am fast-developing a struggle every time I open a magazine these days. Now, I fancy myself on the thin side, so I know I don't always hold the most validity on this standing, but whenever I gaze at photos of red carpet events, I am shocked at how instantly I can start to question myself, even on a good day. My main problem with celeb-level bodies is that, when asked, the majority claims their look is very "easy" and "attainable", but upon more description, they talk about vegan diets, hours with a personal trainer, miles on the treadmill... for those of us with major bills, full-time school, and jobs, that's not very "easy" to me... can't afford it and wouldn't have the time if I could!

However, I do take pride in myself and don't do things to intentionally harm or worsen my body, so I'm not calling these celebs out as vain; though I do feel their motivations are different than mine. ANYWAY! Bottom line is: girlfriend likes to eat. A lot. And not the reccommended fruits and veggies, oh no. I love chocolate, pizza, ice cream, the works... over time the evidence of that comes and goes. But no matter what my size, I am comfortable with how I look. I rock an hourglass shape with no shame! In fact, today I wanted to celebrate the less-acclamated curvy gals out there.

I personally find women with meat on their bones simply beautiful. It looks healthy, it looks sexy, and it definitely looks feminine. Not knocking the skinny-minnies out there- just taking my hat off to the curvalicious today. In my opinion, the most beautiful women in the world are the most curvacious. They are the bombshells. They are the knock-outs. They are fabulous.

The most buxom of bombshells, the lovely Marilyn Monroe, as seen here.

These beauties work out, yes. They eat healthy sometimes, yes. But they don't let it consume their lives and they don't try and change the natural shape God blessed them with. These are bodies that are attainable and beautiful and ones that you actually may come across in your lifetime. I have not worn a swimsuit more than twice this summer, but I urge everyone to simply slip into one without worrying about a "beach-ready" body... are you ready to go swimming? Good. Then you're ready. Are you eager to lay out in the sun? Good... ready.

Remember that God made you beautiful, no matter what your size. So go ahead and eat that dessert, skip the gym if you don't want to go, and stop covering the mirrors in the house to avoid your reflection. If you are a shapely vixen, consider yourself among the lucky! My applause to all you beautiful curvacious babes out there. I'm rooting for you!

That's all for now,

  3. So true and something I definitely struggle with. Being a pear I have always struggled to love my hips/butt/thighs and always wanted more up top! I think I'm going to ban myself from any negative body talk about myself and see how that goes :)
Thanks for a great message, P!

  5. This post is so beautiful! It is so hard to feel content with what we've got when we're constantly bombarded with messages of dieting and seeing pictures of 'perfect' women. Body image is something I've struggled with my entire life, and, like yourself, I'm on the thin side as well!
