"A man's country is not a certain area of land, of mountains, rivers, and woods, but it is a principle and patriotism is loyalty to that principle."
-George William Curtis
Hello friends and a very happy July to you all! Today is indeed a great day- not only because it is my last day of work for the week before a long, relaxing weekend away from home, but also because this weekend marks a truly great day: Independence Day. I could go on and on about how great this country is, but I feel I wouldn't do the words justice. All I want to basically say is that I love the freedom and opportunity this country represents and am so grateful to live in a land where I can be whatever or whoever I want to be; where I can be a woman and be proud of it. Girl Power!

Blast from the past!
That being said, this weekend should hold a lot of memories for me. My sister-in-law is pregnant, as I mentioned, and her baby shower is this weekend. She does not know we're coming. I absolutely cannot wait to surprise her when we arrive!! I had just the greatest time picking out the gifts for her. This Baby Mania I'm experiencing is now at an all-time high with my bestie's baby Dominic on the mind all the time. Can't wait to have a "Mommy and Me and P! Day" next week with them. The Fourth of July is such a great time: picniks, sunshine, parades, fireworks, grilling, swimming, ice cream, and fun decorations... I'm getting anxious for it already! How about you?? What are all of your fun plans for this weekend?? I can't wait to read more on all of your fabulous adventures.

With all the fun over this amazing holiday, please do try and remember the real reason for the holiday. I remember a few years ago at a fireworks show, before the show began, they played the National Anthem and I found it sad that nobody sang along, nobody put their hand over their heart, nobody stood up, nobody faced the flag. Patriotism runs deep in me and I just like to send out a little friendly reminder to pay homage to our great land on Monday. Lecture over! Enjoy your weekend, lovelies!!
Yay!! Sounds like you're gonna have the funnest weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to celebrate our freedom! :)
Amen to that! This country is a wonderful place to call home.

Enjoy your weekend!!!
I can not believe it's July allready! Independence day has to be one of my favorites, I love fireworks and hanging out with the family and remembering all that so many people have done to grant us our freedom.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one!!
Came across your blog when you left a comment about being a new blogger still and noticed that you are 22 and married. I myself am 22, and getting married in two short weeks and feel sometimes isolated in this age bracket about getting married! enjoy the baby shower, cuteness all around im sure!
