My Little Blessing: Good, Solid Resting

"The nicest thing for me is sleep, then at least I can dream."
~Marilyn Monroe

Today's message is nothing incredible. It's simple and clear, but it makes up one component of a much bigger picture: appreciating the small things in life as you do the little ones. What do I appreciate today? Sleep.

(And so does Gizmo!)

Lately, I have been SO busy... full-time school, new position at work, chores, church, errands, and social obligations keep me on my toes all day, literally. I took to opening the salon every morning and Scott took to closing at work every night, so from 6:30 am to 10:00 pm most days, we are apart and any time in there is dedicated to those other necessities of life. And while I do appreciate that we are fortunate enough to both have great jobs and work toward an education, sometimes more than that I appreciate the down time. Those moments you can just lay around and cuddle or rest up, while doing nothing at all are by far my favorite days. I know you all have busy schedules too so I'm sure you can relate. This past week, I added a new young lady to our staff and decided to give her my shift today so I could take a ME Day. I slept until 10:00 and couldn't feel better! This opportunity for great sleep allowed me to dream for the first time in awhile; great dreams, and to wake up with the bright sun peeking through my curtains. With those little life treasures, how could I not feel like a lucky girl today?!

Cherish these moments when you can. Count your blessings, even the little ones. Find something great in your morning so that even if the rest of the day doesn't go smoothly, you can look back on it and feel like something good has come to you. True, I have to spend an entire day away from Scott, but I will be well-rested and cheerful when he gets home and that's NEVER a bad thing. When you step back and focus on the good things in life and list the things you're grateful for, acknowledging them and saying thank you in whatever way you can, you'll find that more good things will come your way. So what about you? What are you most grateful for today?

Now if you'll excuse me, I have lounging galore to tend to today... time to cuddle with the pup. :) Hope this finds you all feeling even just a little lucky! Life is good. Find that good in your day!!

Ta for now!

  2. I can definitely relate to the opposite work schedules. It's so hard to spend so much time apart from your significant other, but i definitely makes you appreciate that togetherness when it finally comes around!
