Be Happy

"Life is too short to be anything but happy."
-Unknown

Today I wanted to talk about happiness. In this life, you are going to have to deal with a lot of unfortunate events and people, most of which cannot be avoided. However, this life is tough enough as is, so I find myself constantly questioning why I make it more difficult on myself by choosing to do things that do not make you happy. Your time away from obligations should be filled with nothing but joy.

As I mentioned, some of it may be unavoidable: school, work, etc., but even those can be better for you if you make a few changes for the better: choose a college that truly appeals to you, no matter what, and pick a degree that you really feel you will be passionate about and be able to pursue for a life-long career. Choose a job that plays to your strengths and is filled with happy people who make the work day go by faster. Date only the people that build you up, rather than tear you down. Having gone from school to school, job to job, and boyfriend to boyfriend, I never realized how tough I was making it on myself until I had it so good. I finally left my old schools that weren't designed for my type of learning. I got a job that I was good at and was filled with wonderful people I could build friendships with, in a position that would look good on my resume. I married the man of my dreams who makes me feel better about myself than I ever could do for myself. I feel like I have set myself up for future success and happiness, not only because I like what I'm doing with my life, but also because when you are happy, success comes hand-in-hand with it. Make those changes!

I know it can't all be all good, all the time (I'm not THAT delusional), but you'll be surprised at how much more manageable those unavoidable obligations become when the rest of your life is balanced out by happiness. Do not settle in any regard of your life. Respect yourself and know that you are capable and deserving of the best. I'm not trying to sit here and brag about how great I think my life is, but I do want to serve as an example; I used to settle all the time, but today I find myself feeling so much better about where I'm at in my life, simply because I decided to empower myself and make the choices that would make me happiest.

Hoping this strikes a chord with a few of you and inspires you to make that change you've been dying to make for awhile. Keep the good, and "trim the fat", as I like to put it. I can personally say that I know each of you are wonderful and I want happiness for you all- let me know if I can ever help you reach that point!

Peace out,
P!

  2. Love your positivity!!I was just trying to tell a friend the same thing yesterday. Life is too short for negativity and we should always try to build up ourselves and each other rather than doing things to tear people down.
