Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
Every once in awhile, it's okay to be selfish and focus on yourself. Take some time off to just think about what you want and what you need. Fridays are my opportunity to do that. I get to work half days on Fridays and end up having my entire afternoons and evenings to myself. Today, I feel like I want to get some ice cream and have a movie day back at home. And you know what? After a tough week, I feel like I deserve it.
Some of my favorite ice cream treats: character-shaped. Adorable!
It's a good idea to treat yourself to little rewards after a tough time, a job well-done, or a rare day off. Take time to treasure your very own company and determine just what makes you happiest. Set aside a "Me Fund", where you can take cash to splurge on yourself every once in awhile. It is important to be selfless and care about the needs and feelings of others, but having "Me Days" or even just "Me Hours" can really give you the introspective time you need to rejuvenate yourself and face reality with a little bit brighter perspective. "Me Days" are mini vacations and, no matter how much you may love your family, friends, and significant others, it's nice to escape even them once in awhile.
Take a bath with your favorite bubble bath, go for a walk in your favorite place, buy a pair of new sheets and take an afternoon nap in them... it doesn't have to be expensive, as long as it makes you feel great, if only for a little while. I plan on ice cream and some R&R as my treat. What about you? If you had a "Me Day", what would you do with it? (This could inspire my actions for NEXT Friday, so let me know what great ideas come to mind!) I hope this finds you all well and eager for the weekend... just a few more hours!
Take it easy,
P!
Love this! My Me time is when I take a bath every other night :) love it!
ReplyDeleteA bath sounds absolutely delightful and LOTS of lotion afterward- yes!! Loves it.
ReplyDeleteOooh I love this! Hubs and I never take enough "me" days but when we do... we notice a big difference in eachother's attitude!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting :)
And my me days are sitting down with a good book and yummy treats. Shopping. Getting my hair done. I love your ideas!
oh yes bubble baths are my favorite me time.
ReplyDeleteWell said! Enjoy your ice cream :)
ReplyDeleteDepending on my mood and energy level my 'me time' treats can include neighborhood walks with the hubby, kitty cuddles with a good book or coconut sorbet devouring! One weird thing I always look forward to is my monthly eyebrow appointment at Benefit, the pain is my pleasure ;)
Have a lovely weekend!
I love ME-time! Which to me means - do nada. And those ice creams looks so cute! Hehe. Would love to taste them both. :p
ReplyDeleteHave a continued lovely weekend.
